🐾 Cooper’s CSA Farm Service Dog Policy

At Cooper’s CSA Farm, we welcome visitors of all abilities and are committed to creating an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone. This includes accommodating guests who rely on service dogs, in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

✅ Service Dogs Are Welcome

Guests with disabilities are permitted to bring their service dogs onto the farm and into festival areas.

Service dogs must:

  • Remain under the handler’s control at all times (leash, harness, or tether required).

  • Be well-behaved and non-disruptive to other guests and animals.

  • Stay with their handler at all times.

If a service dog is growling, barking excessively, lunging, or behaving aggressively, our team may require the animal to be removed for the safety of all guests.

📋 Proof of a Service Dog

Under Ontario law, staff may accept that a dog is a service animal if:

  • It is readily apparent that the dog is trained to assist with a disability (for example, a guide dog harness or service vest), or

  • The handler provides a note from a regulated health professional (doctor, nurse, psychologist, etc.) stating that the person requires the animal for disability-related reasons.

We do not require details about the person’s disability, only confirmation of the need for the animal.

🚫 Emotional Support Animals

While we understand the important role pets and emotional support animals play in many people’s lives, Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not recognized as service animals under Ontario or Canadian law.

For this reason, ESAs and pets are not permitted during our festival events except on designated Dog Saturdays, where companion dogs are welcome with the appropriate waiver & purchase of a dog ticket.

⚖️ Responsibility & Liability

  • All service dog handlers are responsible for the care, control, and behavior of their dogs while on our property.

  • Any damage or injury caused by an animal remains the responsibility of the handler.

  • For everyone’s comfort, we ask that handlers bring waste bags and clean up after their animals.

❤️ Working Together

Our goal is to make sure all guests feel safe, respected, and accommodated. If you plan to attend with a service dog, our team is here to support you. Please contact us in advance if you have any specific needs, and we’ll do our best to make your visit enjoyable.
