MAY 2009
  • Steve now has much more help on the farm with the arrival of Florencio, Filimon, and Leonardo!
  • All the straw has been removed from the strawberry plants in the fields and they are coming along nicely! (now if we could just have a few more warmer days...)
  • LOTS of baby goats are being born and Lisa's busy with the kids!
  • New strawberries and sweet corn are being planted now!
  • All the potatoes are now planted - Superior, Chieftain, Yukon Gold, Cecile, Banana Fingerling, Russet, and a blue variety!  So, plenty of variety for the CSA baskets and our farmers market stand.
  • Also the snap peas, spinach and beets are planted.
  • Lastly, the rhubarb plants have been moved from the front of the store.
WHAT'S NEW??
  • Our farm store has been renovated and expanded! Come and see it on June 7th at the open house!!
  • We have made repairs to our barn and the farmhouse is getting a much needed overhaul.  The place is really looking great!!
  • And last but not least...wait till you see this year's corn maze design!  We are so excited to be featuring "Breakfast Television's" own Kevin & Dina!!

MARCH 2009
  • On the 3rd Steve was finally able to harvest the grain corn from last year's maze and then we turned the goats out to clean-up what was left in the field.
  • One of the wilder tasks on the farm is weaning the calves born last year!  We did this on the 20th, and they are now being fed separately and just waiting for the grass to green-up so they can go out to pasture.
  • On the 24th Jairo arrived from Mexico - time for Steve to really get to work now that he has help!
  • The 15th was productive in the produce area - many of the crops (lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, green onions and more) were seeded in the greenhouse in Bradford.  We also purchased two greenhouse/cold frames to be constructed on our farm!

APRIL 2009
  • The 2nd was the perfect time to maintain and repair our equipment; it's an ongoing job, but with the nice weather we managed to get a lot done!
  • Mother Nature threw a real curveball - just as our baby chicks arrived, so too did winter again...Therefore, we kept them warm in a temporary brooding area in the barn.
  • The frost was finally out of the ground on the 9th and so we began work on the new greenhouse!

Spring has sprung and things are busier on the farm!  One of the first signs that spring has arrived is that our garlic crop is already up out of the ground!  Keep checking the recipe tab on this website for some delicious garlic-based recipes, as well as recipes featuring all of our delicious produce!
